The God Theory

“The God Theory” is a book I recently read by Bernard Haisch, Ph.D., an astrophysicist and author of over 130 scientific publications. He served as a scientific editor of the Astrophysical Journal for ten years and was Principal Investigator on several NASA research projects.

While many scientists shy away from discussions about God, Dr. Haisch explains why the concept of a supreme deity should be embraced by mainstream science.  Even though the concept of God cannot be proved scientifically, neither can many of the latest and greatest scientific theories, such as the ones focusing on parallel universes.  Dr. Haisch points out that we live in a purposeful universe, one that is uniquely suited for life and not one that was accidentally created by chance.

In The God Theory, Bernard Haisch proposes a theory that provides purpose for our lives while at the same time is completely consistent with everything we have discovered about the universe and life on Earth.

For me, the biggest takeaways from this book are the following ideas:

Consciousness is not just a brain phenomena; it is our connection to God.
Ultimately, consciousness is what creates matter and not vice versa
New discoveries in physics focus on a background of quantum light that seems to be the source of creation
That underlying non-local and non-physical light could also be the source of consciousness

Bernard Haisch’s ideas around a subjective universe, where our consciousness creates our universe is something that I experienced during my various death meditations and is also a topic I’ve written about extensively on this blog. I find it reassuring that others are coming to this same conclusion. At first it may be a difficult concept to grasp: that you are creating the world you see around you. […]

The Do-Not-Fear-Death Dream

I have had a very strange recurring dream that seems to reappear from time to time as a reminder that there is nothing to fear, not even death.

In the dream, I was living in my childhood house, when a man came to the door.  He was wearing a white flowing robe and had a long white beard. The previous time I had this dream, I thought he was Moses. Now, he appeared more like the mystic. He didn’t speak, but he motioned for me come outside.

When I stepped out on the concrete porch, the man seemed to communicate with me without speaking. He wanted me to follow him, but he also warned me to be careful and not touch the ground.  Instead of just walking in the grass, we had to climb on the railings of porch, and then cling to bricks on the side of the house as we inched our way around the house and into the backyard.

When we made it to the back of the house, I could see an enormous cemetery where my childhood backyard would have been.  Again, he bid me to be careful and not touch the ground.  In my mind I heard him say, “This is hallowed ground that we dare not touch with our feet.”

He jumped from his perch on the edge of the house and landed on top of one of the headstones. He motioned for me to the do the same and pointed to a nearby headstone. It seemed to be an impossible distance to jump, but I did it anyway and landed exactly where I had planned.

We then began walking and jumping from one headstone to another as we ventured deeper into the middle of […]

Disembodied Beings

A small ashram was started in the mountains in 2006, and our first building on the property was a used double-wide trailer.  A few people moved in and began to live at the ashram full time.  These people were the pioneers.

After we had been there a few months, stories began to circulate among the full time residents about paranormal occurrences.  Several people reported being awakened in the middle of the night to hear someone whistling outside the trailer.  The whistling sound moved around the trailer several times. One guy jumped up and ran outside quickly to see if he could catch someone. There was no one there, but he could hear the sound moving off into the deep forest.

Another time, a husband and wife who lived there full time were alone in the trailer, and decided to go into town for supplies. They went out to their car, but the woman forgot something and ran back to the trailer. When she approached the door, she could hear someone playing the guitar. She was surprised, because she thought they were alone on the property. When she opened the door, the guitar playing stopped, but she could hear the strings still resonating.  She called to see if anyone was inside, but there was no answer.

One night, one of the women heard someone crying outside and opened the door to find another full time resident sobbing and disoriented.  It was one of the biggest toughest guys who normally worked all day with a chainsaw clearing trails. He was shaking, crying, and stumbling around in the grass.

“What’s wrong?” asked the woman.

“There’s something out here,” said the man stammering. “There’s something out here.”

One night when I was sleeping on […]

Hallucination or Near-Death Experience

After going through my first death meditation, I wondered whether the experience was a hallucination. I don’t recall ever having anything that elaborate happen in a daydream.  And my normal sleeping dreams are never that organized.  I felt like I had been hypnotized into a near-death experience.

Someone asked the mystic about their personal experience during the death meditation wanting to know the same thing.  The mystic then explained the difference between a realization and a hallucination. “If it was a realization, then awareness will spread throughout your life,” he said. “But, if in your physical reality you become more and more senseless because of what you’ve seen, then it was clearly a hallucination.” He went on to say that people who try to see something during a meditation, will often have hallucinations.  I don’t recall having any expectations before the death meditation. I went into the process completely open and had no idea what to expect.

I can say that as a result of the process, my awareness did change. For several days after the process, I began to sense a small tornado-bathed-in-light inside of people with whom I came in contact. There was nothing visible that my eyes could actually see, but I seemed to intuitively sense the spinning light vortex that stretched from their throats down to their stomachs.  It may have just been my imagination, but when I first noticed it, it startled me.  I began to believe that this vortex as the divinity within us all, a passage between the physical universe and the non-physical.

The evening after the death meditation process, I sketched out some notes and a diagram, so that I would remember what I had seen. There were about ten […]

Collapsing the Wave Function

Collapsing the wave function is a term that scientists use to describe the phenomena where waves of energy collapse to form a particle when they are observed or measured in an experiment.  “Collapse” is the word that science uses to explain this theory,  but another way to describe it would be to say that waves of energy “appear” as a particle when they are observed or measured.   This concept is at the root of how science currently believes that the physical universe is formed.   For example,  the atomic structure that we studied in high school of a nucleus being orbited by electrons,  similar to the sun being orbited by planets,  it not at all the way scientists currently view these tiny forms.  Instead of tiny particles,  the electrons exist as probability waves of energy.   When an individual electron is involved in an experiment, such as when it collides with another particle in an accelerator,  only then does the electron collapse its wave function and appear as a particle.  Until then, it was a probability wave.

Think about that for a moment: probability wave.   The word “probability” implies that something might exist or has a chance to exist.   So in other words,  these dancing fields of energy waves are not real unless some future event occurs.

One theory is that human beings are responsible for the wave function collapse.   In the book, “Biocentrism,”  author Dr. Robert Lanza  proposes the idea that the physical universe doesn’t exist without life.  There is no collapse of the wave function without living being.   The future event that causes a wave of energy to move from “probable” to “actual” is some type of interaction with a living being.

From my own experiences,  I believe this concept […]

Lunch with God

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him some chips. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.   His smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word..   As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? He’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”

Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his […]
